Celebrating 150 years from the time that the first international match was played we have tonight revival of the oldest rivalry in the world football! The game as it is officially recognized by FIFA as the first ever international saw Scotland play England and both take front stage tonight in a game at Hampden Park that marks that special football anniversary!

The original twelve football clubs forming “The Football League” and playing their first games on 8 of September 1888 were Wolverhamtpon Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City, Notts County, Derby County, Aston Villa, Preston North End, Everton, Burnley, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, and Accrington. Six teams from the Midlands and six from Lancashire as the southern clubs were still on amateur status. From that day the whole football world was going to be revolutionized but definitely nobody who took part on that first Saturday could imagine how the game would grow enormously in the future.

From 1974 all the way through to 1998, Scotland appeared in all the World Cups bar one. As well was present at the Euro Finals in Sweden in 1992 and England in 1996. After experiencing a very bad spell since then the qualification for Euro 2020 brought a new era and now a second qualification is looming large for next seasons competition. It’s not luck, it’s pure work ethic and lots of effort.

Only France arguably has a more deep pool of talent for Euro 2024 than this England team with generational talents and definitely enough quality to go all the way this time!
